2017 Aon Benfield Scholarship Winner Announced

Sydney, 22 June 2017 — Aon Benfield and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) are pleased to announce they have awarded the 2017 Aon Benfield Scholarship to Jack Hunt.

Mr Hunt is an Associate at Clyde & Co and submitted the winning entry on this year’s topic: Lifetime Insurance: A revolution, or a step too far?

Mr Hunt will attend the 52nd Annual Aon Benfield Global Clients Reinsurance Seminar in London from June 26 to 6 July 2017, an outstanding educational opportunity and intensive study program where he will gain an understanding of the principles and practices of arranging reinsurance on a global scale.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as the winner of this year’s Aon Benfield Scholarship. Both ANZIIF and Aon are providing me a unique opportunity to learn more about the global insurance and reinsurance industries and its best practices through this scholarship. I believe this will further develop my career and I am extremely grateful that my submission was successful,” said Mr Hunt.

Established to reward and recognise outstanding insurance professionals in the Australian and New Zealand insurance markets and to emphasise the importance of continuing professional development in all aspects of the industry, the scholarship, in partnership with ANZIIF, has been sponsored by Aon Benfield for the past 13 years.

“Aon Benfield has for years been a proud sponsor of this scholarship and we are excited to be able to provide this educational opportunity and experience to Jack,” said Robert De Souza, CEO, Aon Benfield Australia and New Zealand.

“Our annual gathering for global clients in London will expose Jack to invaluable insights and best practices from industry leaders around the world.”

“Continuing to offer insurance professionals a great opportunity to learn, grow and expand their horizons within the insurance industry, the Aon Benfield Scholarship provides Jack with a life changing opportunity,” said Prue Willsford, CEO at ANZIIF.

“Jack produced an outstanding essay and I am sure, given his interest in professional development, he will make the most of the opportunity to take part in the Global Clients Reinsurance Seminar in London.”

The scholarship was determined by a judging panel of industry figures, featuring:

  • Robert De Souza – President APAC/CEO Australia & New Zealand, Aon Benfield
  • Prue Willsford – CEO, ANZIIF
  • Julie Batch – Chief Customer Officer, Customer Labs, IAG
  • Peter Cheesman – Head of Analytics, Aon Benfield
