Aon Boardroom Series 2008
![]() Fraud is a top of mind issue for the board and management in today’s environment. Research indicates that organisations lose on average 5% of their revenue to fraud. The spate of corporate collapses over the past decade has well and truly put the risk of fraud on the map as a corporate governance issue requiring a commitment from board level down. Aon's Boardroom Series explored the issue of fraud in more depth with particular focus on the important role the board and senior management play in the success or failure of measures to effectively manage this risk. Shane Boyd, Aon's Head of Fraud Risk Services explained that the success of fraud mitigation strategies hinges on the "tone set from the top". Attendees were also provided with a law enforcement perspective of the gravity of the problem with guest panel speakers including Mr Tim Kelly (Senior Investigator, Australian Securities & Investments Commission) and Senior Police representatives from each jurisdiction. Below you can find Shane’s presentation used at the Boardroom Series. Fraud – where does the buck stop?
