Wallaroos make return to Aon Uni 7s for round two

Sydney, 8 September 2017 – The eight Universities competing in the inaugural Aon Uni 7s Series have descended on Macquarie University in Sydney for round two of the competition kicking off this Saturday at Macquarie University Playing Fields.

After the completion of the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Ireland, four Wallaroos players will make their Aon Uni 7s Series debut this weekend with Sam Treherne (Griffith University), Nareta Marsters (Griffith University), Mille Boyle (Bond University) and Mahalia Murphy (University of Adelaide).

The University of Queensland will be out to defend their top of ladder position after winning the first round of the series at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston. Hosts Macquarie University will welcome back Aussie 7s star, Chloe Dalton who missed round one due to injury.

Matches kick off at 10.00am on Saturday 9 September with every match to be streamed LIVE through rugby.com.au and free entry at the ground.

Qantas Australian Women’s Sevens Head Coach Tim Walsh said: “We saw some competitive Sevens Rugby in round one of the Series and I think we will see the standard lift again this weekend at Macquarie University.

“All teams would have taken a lot out of their round one experience and will be looking to really lift their game coming into round two.

“To win a Sevens Series is all about consistency, so I think we will see some teams really step up over the weekend and look to claim valuable Series points.”

Qantas Australian Sevens and Macquarie University Sevens player, Chloe Dalton said: “I’m really looking forward to running out for Macquarie University this weekend and the side is excited about playing at home.

“To finish in third place last round has left us in good stead for the Series and we are looking forward to improving our game on home turf.”

The weekend will be a festival of Rugby, with the Macquarie University Sydney Rays playing host to the Greater Sydney Rams in the NRC on Sunday 10 September.
