Aon supports young talent in songwriting competition


Sydney, 19 March, 2019 - Aon (NYSE:AON), the leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions has partnered with APRA AMCOS in sponsoring the annual Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition.

The esteemed songwriting competition aims to support talented songwriters and raises much-needed funds for not-for-profit organisation Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia (NRMTA).

Aon has joined forces with APRA AMCOS, Alberts and BMG in sponsoring the event which awards the winning songwriter/s a share in A$70,000, with a career-changing A$50,000 first prize, and enables them to join the eminent company of past winners which include Megan Washington (2009), Gretta Ray (2016) and Amy Shark (2018).

Deb Gibson, Client Director, Aon said, “We are proud to have worked with APRA AMCOS for close to 20 years in supporting talented young people create careers from passions. We are delighted to support a competition that provides opportunities for songwriters and raises money for a great cause.”

The Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia charity uses music to deliver positive outcomes to young people with physical and intellectual disabilities, and all proceeds from the charity are donated to the charity.

“Our active involvement in the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition is part of our ongoing commitment to having the support structures in place for progressing the professional development of Australian musicians,” Ms Gibson added.

The prize takes its name from the legendary songwriters and founding members of The Easybeats, Harry Vanda, and George Young.

Now in its 10th year the former Australian-based competition has opened the opportunity globally, offering young songwriters across the world the unique chance to grow their career as a songwriter.
